What are the differences between the Resource Types in the Library?

  • Exercise: Resources that entail experiential learning and can be discreet and very focused, with some psychoeducation either before or after the exercise to facilitate comprehension and behavior change. They typically do not involve interactive components, but if they do, it’s minimal (e.g. one question after the exercise to reflect on what the client just learned).
  • Psychoeducation: Typically, all-text resources that can occasionally include a restricted number of prompts to illustrate comprehension of the material and/or to facilitate behavior change. These resources are minimally interactive and when they involve more interaction, it’s only to enhance the quality of education.
  • Self-Monitoring: Resources that allow clients to regularly assess or record their experience to uncover patterns or otherwise develop more insight into a clinical presentation. Common examples of this are targeted journals, diaries, or logs. To help clients learn how to do this, the resources are often preceded by psychoeducation.
  • Self-Report Measure: A resource the client completes once to learn more about their experience/symptoms. It will provide a series of questions and can either be scored automatically by TherapyAssist or manually by the client or therapist. These resources are often used to obtain information about symptoms and diagnoses and to track progress in therapy.
  • Worksheet: Resources with interactive components that clients fill out, often preceded by psychoeducation. They require engagement and reflection to complete.
